17-02-2014 13:04

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Rybak has said that not a single document about the return to the 2004 Constitution has yet been registered in the Ukrainian parliament."The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has not registered a single bill concerning ways to return to the Ukrainian Constitution of 2004," Rybak said during a meeting of the conciliation council of leaders of parliamentary factions and committees in Kyiv on February 17.

The speaker noted that the factions had prepared three different versions of bills to return to the 2004 Constitution. He said that a special commission, which will include representatives of all factions, may be set up on February 18 to agree on draft amendments to the Constitution. As reported, the opposition suggests that the amendments to the constitution should be made only after the return to the Fundamental Law of 2004. Leader of the Batkivschyna Faction Arseniy Yatseniuk said at the 11th people's council on Independence Square on February 16 that the Ukrainian parliament should put this matter to a vote on February 18.
