26-11-2009 11:49 Ukraine will export electricity to Lithuania from January 1, 2010
Ukraine will start the export of electricity to Lithuania starting on January 1, 2010, President Viktor Yushchenko said after the meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Dalia Grybauskaite.
In his words, agreement has been signed on the delivery of electricity. "We are ready to provide one nuclear reactor for generation and export of electricity. The agreement will come into force on January 1, 2010," Yushchenko said. The Ukrainian President noted that Lithuania insists on transparent supplies, without mediation. That is why, according to the President, the mediators, who have already got registered in Lithuania, "may close their plans." "This will be exclusively direct supply of electricity," Yushchenko noted. He also intends to address the government with the demand that all mediators will be withdrawn from the delivery pattern through revision of the agreement on the export of electricity.
