Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said that shale gas will be extracted in Ukraine starting from 2015.
"We expect that from 2015 [shale gas will be extracted] why from 2015? We are to carry out a huge work on the assessment of deposits. We should prepare, calculate logistics and where gas is to be supplied. The work will be conducted in 2014, and from 2015 gas extraction will start," Azarov said on a live TV show on Friday. The premier said that the price of shale gas will be $120-130 per 1,000 cubic meters. "We'll receive gas at the price of around $120-130, and this contains all expenditures," he said. Azarov said that experience of Shell company, with which Ukraine signed an agreement on development of shale gas fields, allows expecting the absolutely safe gas extraction from the point of view of environment protection.
