Foreign Ministry again urges Russia not to interfere in Ukraine's internal affairs
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on the Russian side to stop interfering in the sovereign internal affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, Ukrinform reported.
"Nobody gave Russia the right and nobody asked it to impose its position regarding priorities on the foreign policy or internal development of our country, such as constitutional reform in Ukraine," he said. According to the diplomat, Ukraine, "for obvious reasons, also does not like many things in the Kremlin policy," including with respect to the fraternal Russian people, as well as national minorities living in Russia. However, Perebyinis said, Ukraine respects Russia's sovereignty and the fundamental principles of international law on non-interference in the internal affairs of other independent states. "We demand the same respect from the Russian Federation. Moreover, as a result of such intervention, which the Kremlin allows itself, the fate of tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens residing in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has already been destroyed," he said. "The Russian leadership will have to answer for that sooner or later," Perebyinis said.
