"Strana.UA" claims pressure from authorities

The journalists of the Internet-edition "Strana.UA" appealed to the ambassadors of the G-7 countries and to the EU office in Ukraine on pressure from the authorities. As reported on the website of the publication, the appeal was made public at the press conference by the editor-in-chief Igor Guzhva and his deputy Svetlana Kryukova. According to the  journalists, new criminal cases are being opened against them, with the aim of eradicating the edition.

The editor of "Starana.UA" online edition was arrested on June 22. He is suspected of bribery for not placing politicalmaterial. The court has chosen for Guzhva preventive measure in the form of an arrest with the right to make a pledge what was done the next day and Guzhva left the Lukianivka detention center.
