Poroshenko urges world to prevent revival of totalitarian empires on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Poroshenko said Ukraine, that has lost tens of millions of its sons and daughters of different nationalities as a result of the crimes of totalitarianism, is now opposing the Russian aggression, defending democratic peace of the border. "We call on all free nations to prevent the revival of totalitarian empires, ideologies and practices that give rise to crimes against humanity," the president said. A statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on this day said that some 1.5 million of Ukrainian Jews were killed by the Nazis in Ukraine during World War II. "We call on the international community to join forces in order to prevent any manifestations of anti-Semitism and intolerance on racial or ethnic grounds, cultivate respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms in future generations," reads the Ministry’s statement.
