Kyiv calls on UN members to increase pressure on Russia due to Moscow's violation of human rights, conventions

In particular, the Ministry’s statement says Russia continues illegal detention, torture and repression of Ukrainian citizens. In addition, the document says that the Russian Federation continues ignoring obligations it took in the framework of the Minsk agreements on settling the eastern Ukraine conflict over the exchange of hostages based on the "all for all" principle. Moreover, the Ukrainian diplomats say the number of Ukrainians detained for political reasons in Russia increased, currently numbering no less than 17 people. Also, at least 27 citizens of Ukraine are illegally held or persecuted in Crimea occupied by Russia. The Ukrainian ministry’s statement lists Ukrainians held in Russian prisons or jailed in the occupied Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea. It includes, among others, filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, reporter Roman Sushchenko, and others.
