Ukrainians warn Council of Europe of dangerous precedent

Ukrainian public organizations are calling to prevent a dangerous precedent of returning Russian delegation vote in the PACE.

This is stated in a joint statement of NGOs, Ukrinform reports.

"We believe that the leadership of the Council of Europe, the member states and the members of the PACE must do everything in their power to prevent a dangerous precedent for the return of the Russian delegation to the PACE," the statement said.

In addition, Ukrainian organizations call on international and national human rights organizations to do their utmost to prevent the surrender of the Council of Europe. It is not just that from the easy hand of the Council of Europe this will be the first significant relaxation of sanctions against Russia because of the war against Ukraine, in which people continue to die every day, and more than 5.5 million people are forced to live in conditions of occupation. It will give freedom to  other member states of the Council of Europe, which will jeopardize the rights of millions of people who are protected by the European Convention on Human Rights.

Recall, the Russian parliament received an invitation signed by PACE Interim Chairman Stella Ciriakidis (Cyprus) regarding the sending of a delegation of the Russian Federation to Paris.
The Russians, who will take part in a meeting in Paris on December 14, will declare Russia's position on the participation of the Russian delegation in the Assembly and expect to hear the idea of returning their delegation to the PACE.
