Situation becomes critical in Avdiyivka

This morning militants again fired Avdiyivka, firing more than 80 rounds of 4 "Grad", located in Donetsk. According to the press officer of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade Olena Mokrenchuk, people saw that there were shootings from four different points, four different military facilities. The town is burning. There are victims among the civilian population," the spokesperson said.She added that the number of victims and injured persons are being specified.

Power, heating and water supply was cut in Avdiyivka on January 30 amid frosts of nearly 20 degrees Celsius. The accident resulted from the damage done by attacks on power transmission grids. An emergency was declared in the city, and a regional coordination center was set up to involve city heads, representatives of law enforcement authorities and city enterprises, and rescuers.

The state of emergency is declared in the city Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has cut short his working visit to Germany over shellings in Avdiyivka and has instructed to hold a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) to resolve the situation in Donbas because of the situation in Avdiyivka, and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin - to keep in touch with members of the UN Security Council. Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko has sent a letter to the UN Secretary General in connection with the deteriorating situation in the east of Ukraine.

The situation in Avdiyivka is critical and the government will follow the events every minute to adopt if needed the proper decision,Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said on TV.
