Ukraine's ex-Ambassador of Poland to oversee eastern policy at Poland's Foreign Ministry

"Appointed Deputy Minister Marek Ziolkowski will be responsible at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for eastern affairs and security policy. Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Beata Szydlo  has signed the appointment resolution on December 22, 2015," a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of Poland noted. Ziolkowski graduated from Warsaw University where he studied philosophy. He began his diplomatic career in 1991. During 1992-1996 Ziolkowski served as Deputy Polish Ambassador to Belarus, from 1997 to 2001 he served as Deputy Director of Department on Eastern Europe. From 2001 to 2005 he was the Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine and later worked at the departments on security policy, cooperation and development. From 2012 Ziolkowski was Polish Ambassador to Kenya and  nine countries in East Africa. The diplomat wrote several works on Ukrainian and Belarusian affairs. In 2008, he published the book titled "Project Ukraine". Ziolkowski was awarded the Ukrainian state award - the Order of Yaroslav the Wise of the 5th degree.
