Ministers of Ukraine, EU and Russia meet in Brussels

Brussels is currently hosting a trilateral ministerial meeting of the European Union, Ukraine and Russia on trade and economic issues related to the implementation of the Free Trade Area (FTA) between Ukraine and the EU.

Comprehensive FTA between our country and the EU will start working from January 1 2016 in the framework of the Association Agreement. Last week Russian President Putin signed a decree on the abolition of free trade with Ukraine. Today the Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the introduction of food embargo from Ukraine from January 1, 2016. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country called the move a violation of international law. The ban has no economic justification, the question is exclusively political, the domestic MFA emphasize.
