Yatsenyuk: Russia will never have a veto power on the European future of Ukraine

"Once again I emphasize: on January 1, without a doubt, Ukraine starts implementing DCFTA. Russia will never have any right to veto Ukraine's European choice. This is a bilateral agreement. We can hold only technical consultations with the Russians," he noted. Yatsenyuk said that such consultations were carried out on plenty of occasions, but the Russians don’t raise the question on the economy there, and they consider this agreement through the prism of geopolitics. According to him, Ukraine also needs to have quotas for Ukrainian goods raised. He also reminded that three years ago the share of trade turnover between Ukraine and the EU in the total foreign trade volume of the country amounted to almost 30 percent, and now it totals only 12.5 percent, therefore threats of trade collapse with Ukraine are being fulfilled without the DCFTA. Yatsenyuk said that Kyiv requires technical assistance in the implementation of the agreement on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. "We must make Ukrainian goods better, more competitive, cheaper and, I would even say, more delicious," he said.
