Rada passes bill on foreign broadcasting at first reading

The document creates legal basis for activities of a state-run company in charge of broadcasting beyond Ukraine. “The state-run “Ukraine Tomorrow” Foreign Broadcasting Television and Radio Company of Ukraine is created in order to meet information needs of foreign audience, in particular, foreign Ukrainians, protect national interests beyond Ukraine, develop and support positive image of Ukraine in the world via operative, objective coverage of events in Ukraine, official inner and external policy, and activities of state agencies,” reads a draft law. Regulations of the legislative act stipulates that the foreign broadcasting company is created as a state-run company on the basis of the state-run  “World Service” Ukrainian Radio and Television Broadcasting Company and the Banking Television LLC.
