The cause behind this check was the poisoning of children at the Perlyna Karpat sanatorium in Zakarpattia region, and at the Konvalia sanatorium in Lviv region (West Ukraine). At the beginning of July, 35 people, including 30 children, were taken to hospital because of a food poisoning at the Konvalia health center. On July 5, the prosecutor's office of Zakarpattia region launched criminal proceedings on charges of service negligence by the Perlyna Karpat health center, which resulted in mass poisoning of children, 69 of whom were hospitalized.
