The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects Ukraine's gross domestic product (GDP) to fall by 14% by the end of 2009, NBU official Ihor Shumylo said during the Ukraine-Austria business forum in Kyiv.
According to him, the Central Bank is guided by the data of the State Statistics Committee (SSC) and own monitoring of the economic situation in the country. The NBU believes that from Q2 2009, the GDP fall against Q1 2009 will slow down (according to SSC, GDP dropped by 20.3% in Q1 2009). Ukraine's GDP will decline by more than 14% by the end of 2009.
