02-07-2009 12:32 Road accident rate down in Ukraine in January-June
The State Automobile Inspectorate (SAI) of Ukraine has said that the number of road accidents in the country fell by 25.3% in January-May 2009 year-over-year, Head of the SAI Department Serhiy Kolomiyets has said.
He said that the number of traffic accidents with people injured in them had fallen by 31.2% (from 23,234 to 15,982 road accidents), and added the number of people killed in them had dropped by 40% (from 3,493 to 2,109 people). He also said that the number of people injured in road accidents had fallen by 31.3% (from 28,701 to 19,710 people).
