01-07-2009 14:17 Government initiates lifting duty on some imports
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has tabled in Verkhovna Rada (parliament) the bill of amendments to the Customs Tariff.
The bill provides for cutting the import duty on cattle from 5-15% to 1%. Beside that, the government stands for setting a zero duty rate on cullet, and on import of equipment for ship and car building that is not produced in Ukraine. In case the bill is adopted, budget losses will run into about USD 1.3 million. But on the whole the budget will win at the cost of greater production volumes. "Meanwhile, budget revenues from car construction alone will increase by about USD 240 million in the course of the first two years," the government's explanatory note reads
