24-06-2009 15:46 Inflation to be 16% by year results
By the current year results, inflation in Ukraine is expected at 16%, this forecast was made public by expert of the International Center for Perspective Studies Oleksandr Zholud.
According to him, the main factor determining the inflation index in the current year will be raising of utility rates. The expert maintains that a growth of tariffs that will most probably be carried out by stages will continue in 2010 too, at the same time, it is worth expecting a drop in the inflation rate growth. “Next year, we expect further slowing down of a price growth rate and, on the whole, a partial continuation of the administratively regulated tariffs that, in our opinion, will be carried out by stages”, Zholud noted. Inflation in May against April of the current year made up 0.5%, since the year start - 7.4%, against May 2008 - 14.7%. By the last year results, inflation in Ukraine made up 22.3% (December against December). The International Monetary Fund has worsened the forecasted indexes of the GDP decline for Ukraine for 2009 from 6% to 8% and improved the inflation forecast - from 17% to 16.8%.
