"We have nearly doubled the territory of those reserves. Thus, Rostochia (Lviv region) now has 70,000 hectares instead of 30,000, and Desnianskyi has also become biggest. We are in constructive cooperation with UNESCO experts," says Hryhoriy Porchuk, head of the department for perspective development and scientific support of the State Natural Reserves Service.
He informed that the UNESCO network already incorporates four Ukrainian bio-reserves: Askania-Nova, Carpathian, Black Sea, and Danube.
