At the initiative of a Ukrainian delegation, the UN headquarters hosted presentation of a joint project of the UN Development Programme and the BSEC for encouraging trade and investments in the Black Sea basin countries.
Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN Yuriy Serheyev says that the programme aims, first of all, at boosting cooperation at the level of small and midsized businesses. He emphasized that this cooperation would help create new jobs and thus overcome poverty. UNDP experts estimate the trade and investment potential of the Black Sea region at USD 96 billion.
