06-11-2007 18:14 Participants of journalistic initiative "Not Sold" vow politicians and businessmen to stop ordering TV programmes at TV channels
It is admitted in a statement of journalists of Ukrainian TV Channels, published on the web-site "TV Critics" that television is reminding distorting mirror.
Pols and businessmen pay for short videos in news, order TV programmes to discuss information they find topical. This is a common place in Ukraine and becomes an industry sidelining objective news, analysis and discussions. Media people admit that television provides not truthful information to Ukrainians, the same as it was spotted in 2002 to 2004. Ukrainian journalists bid to set general standards at all the TV Channels. Thus, a choice to invite guests of the programme and discuss topic should be in priority of anchors. All the journalists should keep to journalistic principles. Every TV channel should have a redaction council, journalists said and added that they refuse to take part in programmes ordered by richmen and which are unprofessional. The statement has been signed by journalists of the "1+1" TV Channel, STV, 5th Channel, "Inter", "Radio Liberty" 1st National TV Channel, "Sity" and "Era" channel.
