04-03-2010 14:17 Communists unwilling to unite with Our Ukraine, whose hero is Bandera
The parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine (27 MPs) "will not take part in the coalition if Our Ukraine is its member," CPU leader Petro Symonenko says on the party's website.
In his words, the people of Ukraine voted for a change of the authority's course (at the presidential elections) and condemned the previous policy, having expressed support to other political forces, Symonenko stated. In his conviction, the only possible variant of a new parliamentary coalition is a "coalition of majority," consisting of the Party of Regions, the Communist Party, the Lytvyn Bloc and non-aligned deputies. As reported, the Party of Regions, which is actively engaged in the coalition talks, stakes both on the communists and a part of the OU-PSD faction. Earlier in the day, at the proposal of the Party of Regions' faction, the amendments were passed in first reading to the law on the parliamentary rules, saying that not only factions but also individual deputies may form the coalition.
