26-02-2010 15:33 Hong Kong court releases Naftogaz-67 captain on bail
On February 26, the Court of Appeals of China's Special Administrative Region Xianggang (Hong Kong) granted a request of Naftogaz-67 captain Yuriy Kulemesin on his release on bail, according to press-service of SJSC Chornomornaftogaz.
Ukrainian captain, as well as captain of the Chinese Yao Hai bulker and two local pilots, were found guilty by the District Court of Hong Kong of creating danger to life in the sea. Kulemesin was sentenced for 3.2 years of imprisonment. The Ukrainian Naftogaz-67 tugboat managed by Chornomornaftogaz collided with China's Yao Hai cargo ship in the South China Sea outside Hong Kong on March 22, 2008. The Ukrainian vessel sank within minutes. Six Ukrainian citizens and one Chinese were rescued. Eighteen sailors were killed in the accident.
