08-02-2010 12:15 Party of Regions denies possible coalition with BYuT
Party of Regions is not planning to negotiate a possible coalition with the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYuT).
"This is impossible," Party of Regions MP Borys Kolesnikov has told the press Monday. "We don't trade in democracy," his party colleague Hanna Herman added. "The coalition with BYuT is possible in prospect only for amending the Constitution in order to develop democracy, local self-government and within those agreements we have had last spring," Kolesnikov said. "There can be no talks until the final returns are released," the PM stressed. "Let us make away with the outgoing power, and then we will launch a new coalition. We will have a somewhat meaningful response to your question in the next two-three days," he said. With 97.56% of ballots from district election commissions counted, Regions Party leader Viktor Yanukovych won 48.49% of the vote to 45,92% for Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
