Swedish central bank, NBU sign $500 mln swap agreement

The announcement was posted on the regulator's website. "The National Bank of Ukraine concluded the foreign currency swap agreement with the National Bank of Sweden. The swap agreement covers purchase and sale of a maximum of $500 million against the Ukrainian hryvnia," the NBU reports. According to governor of the NBU Valeria Hontareva, the funds will be used to increase the international reserves of Ukraine. The National Bank of Ukraine also concluded the agreement on the so-called technical assistance to Ukraine from the Swedish central bank. "This means that the National Bank of Sweden will cooperate with the Ukrainian regulator to transfer knowledge in the areas that are important for the central banks," reads the statement.
