President Poroshenko makes efforts to ensure prompt release of Ukrainians illegally held in Russia

"This is not a topic of exchange. I do my best to have Ukrainian heroes at home," the president said in an interview with The Washington Post, responding to a question as to whether Ukraine is ready to swap detained Russian servicemen for Ukrainian citizens Nadiya Savchenko and Oleg Sentsov. Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian administration has the support of the Ukrainian people and that he has the support of the entire international community in these aspirations. The Head of Ukrainian state reminded that Nadiya Savchenko is a servicewoman of the Ukrainian Air Force and "was assisting the army on Ukrainian territory." Oleg Sentsov, famous Ukrainian filmmaker, was recently sentenced to 20 years of prison in Russia for alleged “preparations for a terrorist attack” in Russian-occupied Crimea.
