Measles in Odesa region: over 93% of patients were not vaccinated

More than 93% of patients in hospitals in the Odessa region who were infected with measles were not vaccinated against this disease.

It is reported by the press service of the Odessa regional state administration.

During 2017, in Odessa region doctors confirmed the diagnosis of" measles " to one thousand 293 patients, including 843 children.
Due to the outbreak of this disease, the city authorities of Odessa recommended the directors of general educational institutions to prolong their winter holidays for schoolchildren for one week. This decision is made in order to provide a 21-day break in organized contacts of pupils, as well as to ensure the possibility of vaccination of children from measles.

At present, in the Odessa City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, there are 94 patients suffering from measles, including 64 children. This season, more than 700 cases of measles, including 423 patients under the age of 17 years, have been registered.
