Elections in 'DPR/LPR' in breach of Ukrainian law will disrupt Minsk agreements – Klimkin

The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday that holding the elections will disrupt the implementation of the Minsk agreements and will affect the political settlement of the conflict. "The parties discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine, the running of the implementation of the Minsk agreements and Ukraine's progress over the introduction of domestic reforms, in particular on the decentralization process and introduction of respective amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, as well as preparation for the local elections in Ukraine… The High Representative for Foreign Affairs [Mogherini] confirmed the resolute support of the EU for the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the activities of Normandy format for the restoration of territorial integrity and peace in Ukraine," said the report. The diplomats also confirmed that they share a common stance on the launch of the deeper and comprehensive Free Trade Area (FTA) between Ukraine and EU on January 1, 2016. They also paid special attention to the implementation of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization with the EU for Ukrainian citizens and preparation for the signing of the Agreement on Common Aviation Space between Ukraine and EU.
