For failure to timely start heating season, officials may carry criminal responsibility

Local authorities are responsible for timely connection of heating. They may be brought to criminal responsibility for improper performance of their duties.

Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Gennady Zubko reminded about this during an intercom meeting on the heating season.

He, in particular, noted that due to improper performance or non-fulfillment of duties by local self-government bodies, "that led to significant consequences", the Criminal Code provides for detention for up to 5 years.
