Public order in the government quarter in connection with the protest rally held under the Verkhovna Rada is ensured by 3,500 law enforcement officers.
This was reported by spokesman of the Interior Ministry Artem Shevchenko, the Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Right now under the Verkhovna Rada there is a sufficient number of law-enforcers, on October 17 the officials announced a figure of 3.5 thousand law enforcement officers, this figure does not decrease, the only thing - we maneuver our forces and means. We have a clear understanding that we have enough number of people and means to ensure public order and security, and we can maneuver them depending on the aggravation or, conversely, the relief of the situation, " said Shevchenko.
According to him, at present protesters behave peacefully, the situation in the government quarter is calm. In case of its exacerbation, Shevchenko said, the reaction of the security forces "will be adequate".
