New security measures introduced in European Union

The EU member states introduce new security measures in railway transport.

As the Minister of Internal Affairs of France Bernard Kaznyev said, they were agreed by the EU member states at an emergency meeting in Paris.

The question is about strengthening of the control of passengers and their luggage at stations, tightening of laws on firearms, as well as closer cooperation between European security services.

The meeting in Paris was attended by ministers from France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The forum was convened after an attack at a high-speed passenger train en route from Amsterdam to Paris. As a result of shooting three passengers were injured.
