European Commission's response to expansion of US sanctions against Russia

If the sanctions hurt the European companies-trade partners of the Russian Federation, the EU will react immediately.

This is stated in a statement by Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission.

According to him, if US sanctions have negative consequences for European companies that trade with Russia in the energy sector, the EU is ready to take steps in response within a few days.

Juncker also emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the G-7 countries in the issue of sanctions in the context of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.

Recall that on the eve US President Donald Trump signed an "Act to counteract America's opponents by introducing sanctions." In particular, the document provides for a significant increase in pressure on Russia and support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
