Ukraine prolongs cooperation agreement with U.S. on nuclear safety

Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRI) Borys Stoliarchuk has signed an agreement on the renewal of agreements with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on the exchange of technical information and cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.

"The exchange of technical information between the domestic regulator and the NRC of the United States is very important for Ukraine, as it will contribute to the development of the domestic nuclear security sphere, and cooperation in the framework of joint scientific and technical programs and projects, the organization of training and exchange of specialists," the press service of the SNRI quoted Stoliarchuk as saying.

According to its information, for the first time an agreement on cooperation between the SNRI and the NRC was signed in Rockville (U.S.) on April 10, 2006. The amendment was signed in Vienna (Austria) on September 21, 2011.
