United local communities show high turnout at regional elections

At first elections to united local communities that took place on the eve the turnout appeared to be surprisingly high. This is how it was assessed by coordinator of the election programs of the Civic Network "OPORA" Olga Aivazovsky. She said the network observers did not expect a high turnout given the very limited material resources in this election and sluggish election campaign.

On December 11, elections of local councils and mayors in 41 united local communites were held in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions. Dec. 18 the elections will be held in another 143 communities in 22 regions. Thus a quarter of local communities will be formed in Ukraine.
