Separatists launch 20 attacks on Ukrainian troops in east Ukraine

The separatists attacked the Ukrainian positions using mortars, artillery, grenade launchers, and small arms. Most attacks are reported near the separatist-held city of Donetsk and the strategic government-controlled seaport Mariupol. Three Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in the hostilities over the past 24 hours, military spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk reported. The number of hostile attacks decreased over the day, but the use of heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements continued, the spokesman said. He reported nine separatists’ attacks with the use of heavy arms that were to be withdrawn under the ceasefire deal. The truce was not breached in the Luhansk sector in the past 24 hours, Motuzianyk said.
