Over 42% of Ukrainians support idea of referendum on Donbas status, 33% against it - poll

A total of 42.3% of respondents support the idea of holding a nationwide referendum on the status of the territories and 33.2% do not support it. If a referendum was conducted, 49.6% would participate in it, 25.5% would refrain from participating and 24.4% are undecided. If such a referendum was conducted, 53.6% of those who are ready to vote would support official recognition of the 'occupation' of these territories and their isolation until the establishment of official Ukrainian control over them and 29.6% said they would support the idea of granting these territories special status, amnesty for people who have not committed grave crimes and elections before the establishment of Ukrainian control. The poll was conducted by the Razumkov Center sociological service on November 18-23, 2016 in the entire territory of Ukraine except for the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions uncontrolled by Ukraine. The poll surveys 2,015 respondents aged over 18. The margin of error does not exceed 2.3%.
