Poroshenko expects compromise on association agreement from Ukraine-EU summit

"On Thursday, I am going to Brussels for the Ukraine-EU summit. I reiterate that my country has fulfilled 144 points of the Action Plan on visa liberalization, by which it proved to the whole world its ability to implement Euro-oriented reforms of any difficulty level. In the first place, these reforms were needed by us, Ukrainians," Poroshenko said in Kyiv on Monday. The president said those steps were needed not only to get a visa-free regime with the EU, but in the first place for Ukraine itself. And within the framework of these steps the Ukrainian authorities managed to fully rebuild the migration and border systems, create the foundations of the anti-corruption system, etc. The Ukrainian president said his negotiations with the leaders of the institutions and EU member countries "make it possible to predict that a mutually acceptable compromise will be found between Ukraine, the EU and the Netherlands and the ratification of the Ukraine-EU agreement on association and the free trade zone will be completed."
