Tax police under State Fiscal Service to be replaced with financial investigation service – Yatseniuk

"Instead of the tax police, which is now a militarized unit and has earned a specific reputation, we will take a standard Western-style approach when the tax police would be disbanded and a professional financial investigation service would be created as part of the State Fiscal Service," he said when opening a Cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday. "It should be demilitarized, without ranks and without guns, but with brains and strong personalities, who will be able to track all the tax evasion schemes, and monitor [illegal] conversion centers and the formation of illegal tax benefits," Yatseniuk said when presenting his vision of the new service. Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said that the financial investigation service would be created as part of the State Fiscal Service as the government was considering the possibility of creating it as a new structure separate from other law enforcement agencies, and it would be tasked with dealing with economic crimes. Yatseniuk gave instructions to prepare a respective bill on the initiative as soon as possible.
