Euromaidan documentary nominated for Oscar

January 14, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the list of nominees. The documentary “Winter on Fire: Ukraine's Fight for Freedom” was directed by Russian-born American Evgeny Afineevsky. “For me, ‘Winter on Fire’ is a cinematic monument to heroes, dedicated to the entire Ukranian nation and the true story of the Maidan Revolution of Dignity,” Afineevsky said in a director’s statement. The awards ceremony is to be held February 28 in Los Angeles.
