Signing of agreement on climate change postponed

The signing of the final agreement on climate change at a summit in Paris to replace the Kyoto Protocol, was postponed  for a day. It was planned to sign the agreement by the evening of December 11, but French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who chairs the conference, said that the signing was postponed to December 12.

He noted that the negotiations "are going in the right direction." The agreement has to come into force in 2020.

International conference on climate change opened in Paris last week. It brought together the leaders of 147 countries.
