Coordination of anti-terror actions in Syria doesn't mean softer stance on Minsk agreements - Poroshenko

"Strong and effective unity can protect us from terrorism. Weak unity will mean that terrorism will win," he said, adding that after the recent terrorist attacks in Paris Europe must become stronger, the Ukrainian president's press service reported. Asked whether Russia's involvement in the fight against terrorism by attacking the so-called Islamic State (Daesh) in Syria will affect Ukraine, Poroshenko said that Russia is not involved in this fight as Russia supports the pre-war Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad. There will be an opportunity for discussion of this matter only if Russia changes its tactics and directs its efforts towards the struggle against Daesh, he said. "We have a clear signal from many leaders of the G20 Summit in Antalya – the coordination of actions in Syria doesn't mean a softening of the line on the Minsk [agreements]. Russia must fulfill the Minsk agreements completely. Otherwise sanctions will be extended or there will be new sanctions if the situation deteriorates," Poroshenko emphasized. "My main message today is 'let us unite.' I count on global solidarity with Ukraine. Let us unite in our global struggle against terrorism," Poroshenko said.
