State budget 2016 should include at least UAH 100 bln in security, defence spending – NSDC

"The National Security and Defence Council has considered security and defence spending for 2016. As a result of discussion, the Cabinet of Ministers was recommended to provide spending on the security and defence sector at the level of 5% of GDP according to the National Security Strategy of Ukraine and its Military Doctrine. A total of 3% of spending should be meant for the defence sector," the NSDC press service reported on Wednesday. Additional financing from special funds and exploitation of resources under state guarantees will also be provided. The NSDC also discussed strategic military programs on the development and production of modern armaments and military equipment for inclusion in the 2016 state defence order.
