Parliament passes 5 bills of visa liberalization package

At a meeting of parliament on Tuesday, bills No. 2540a, No. 2541a, No. 2542a which deal with anti-corruption activities, and bill No. 3040 on the National Agency of Ukraine for Identification, Investigation and Management of Assets Obtained through Corruption and other Crimes, as well as a bill on foreign labor migration No. 2330a were passed, Interfax-Ukraine reported. Head of the parliamentary committee on European integration Iryna Heraschenko in her comments to Interfax-Ukraine said that Ukraine demonstrated significant progress towards implementing the action plan to liberalize the EU visa regime for Ukrainian citizens. However, she recalled that there still will be an examination of the bill on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on separate issues of seizure of property in order to eliminate corruption risks when the bill (No. 2540a), which was passed on Tuesday, is applied. Heraschenko also recalled that the Ukrainian parliament still needs to introduce the anti-discrimination provision into the labor legislation, and pass a number of bills that deal with migration issues.
