Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov has announced the dissolution of the Communist faction.
He said at the parliament's morning meeting on Thursday that after the 2012 election the Communist faction numbered 33 MPs. Now the number has reduced to 23, which is significantly fewer than the required minimum. Therefore, I declare the faction of the Communist Party dissolved," Turchynov said, adding that it was "a historic event". "I hope that the Communist Party will never be represented in parliament," he said.
