President Petro Poroshenko said in a statement that the absence of the coalition should not paralyze the parliament's lawmaking work.
"The secession of two factions from the coalition shows that their members are guided by their voters' sentiments, not their personal interests. All opinion polls and my own conversations with people show very clearly that the Ukrainian society wants a full power reset. However, at the moment the parliament must continue functioning. We need amendments to the national budget for increased spending on the Armed Forces that are heroically defending our country and we need the adoption of important legislative acts for cooperation with international financial institutions. I call upon all members of parliament for responsible lawmaking work. They must be aware that Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and its very existence depend on them as well," Poroshenko wrote.
