Ukraine has convened a forum on security cooperation in Vienna to discuss the situation in the eastern regions of the country, a Ukrainian diplomat has said.
"Ukraine has decided to take advantage of its right and convene, in accordance with the Vienna Document, a joint meeting of the forum on security cooperation and the OSCE Permanent Council to discuss the current situation on the eastern borders of our country," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday. He said that such a meeting should be held on April 30 under the chairmanship of Switzerland. He said that at this meeting it was also planned to discuss the situation surrounding the seizure of a group of foreign military inspectors in Sloviansk. "We look forward to the constructive participation of the Russian side in this meeting," Perebyinis said.
