Prosecutor General Makhnitsky: We proved Yanukovych guilty
Acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine Oleh Makhnitsky says that as a result of investigative activities former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has been already proven guilty of killings of people on the Maidan; he told this to Euronews as part of his visit to Strasbourg for the PACE session.
"We have established communication schemes, how orders were issued. Namely, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who gave criminal orders, has already been proven guilty," Makhnitsky noted. According to the acting Prosecutor General, Yanukovych gave his orders to the Presidential Administration, whose representatives have been also put on the wanted list. "They developed criminal plans of the killing of people, plans to neutralize the Maidan, plans to engage various military units, law enforcement agencies, as well as gangs - the so-called “titushky” and others. Later, the orders were given to heads of security ministers and agencies. Namely, the Interior Minister, Security Service of Ukraine, other commanders of military units. And from there the orders were given to direct commanders of the units involved in the killing of citizens," Makhnitsky said. He also recalled that for today direct perpetrators of the crimes have been detained, in particular, Berkut riot police fighters" - the so-called 'death company'. "They were given weapons - automatic, sniper's. They have been proven guilty, their involvement in the killing of people," the acting Prosecutor General emphasized.
