Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna (Fatherland) Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has declared her intention to run for the Ukrainian presidency.
Tymoshenko said that she intended to ask delegates at a Batkivschyna Party congress on March 29 to nominate her as a presidential candidate. Early presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25. The term for nomination ends this Sunday. Recent opinion poll saw her third with over 8% rating. The poll was led by businessman and former economy minister Petro Poroshenko with about 25% of support.
