Most of the Crimean Tatars who were staging a rally outside the building of the Crimean parliament on Wednesday have left, but the rally organized by Russian Unity continues.
The rally involves several hundred Russian Unity supporters who are waving the Crimean and Russian flags. They are separated from the Crimean Tatar rally by a police cordon. They demand a referendum for the independence of Crimea and joining the Russian Federation. Crimean Tatars, estimated between 5,000 and 10,000, gathered in support of Euromaidan and unity with Ukraine. Clashes occured between the two groups. A dead body was found not far from the Crimean Parliamnet building during the demonstration; doctors said the death was caused by a heart attack. Seven more people were rendered medical aid.
