Consultations on possible candidates for the position of prime minister are underway, and President Viktor Yanukovych may make a decision next week.
Oleksandr Yefremov, head of the pro-presidential Party of Regions faction in parliament, said this at a news conference Wednesday. "It seems to me that the president might express his viewpoint next week," he said. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov resigned on January 28. The same day, President Yanukovych accepted Azarov's and his Cabinet's resignation and instructed the government members to continue performing their duties until a new government could start work.
